Toberman Learning Center (TLC)
Ages 5-10 years old
Toberman Learning Center (TLC) is a free after-school program
created to enable local youth to develop grade-level and beyond
academic skills through participation in daily math and reading
enhancement programs, homework completion assistance, tutoring,
and weekly educational competitions. Their progress is closely
monitored by school report cards.
As a safe haven after school, TLC provides free transportation
from local elementary schools, snacks and recreational activities
to over 65 children daily. A hot meal is also provided by volunteers
from civic organizations, schools and the faith community.

Day Camps
Ages 5-9 years old
To enable youth to continue learning during the summer, winter
and spring breaks, TLC offers an educational and recreational
Day Camp. Participation in the daily educational sessions is
required when children participate in weekly field trips and
daily recreational activities. Such activities include a water
park, science museum, ice skating, aquarium, zoo, and swimming.
Very few children have the opportunity to attend camp, so
at Toberman, we bring that experience to them. They participate
in a sleep over in our beautiful Multipurpose room, giving them
the feeling of camping. They have a night hike, participate
in roasting marshmallows, singing campfire songs, telling ghost
stories, playing games and watching scary movies. The last person
to fall asleep wins a prize.
In Partnership with the Salvation Army
Each summer, we partner with the Salvation Army and send 40
youth, ages 8-16 years, to a 6 day, 5 night overnight camp.
What an exciting adventure in the mountains of Calabassas.
Computer Lab

21 PCs and 8 MACs
The Computer Lab is Toberman’s after-school state of the
arts lab. Children enrolled in the Learning Center learn fundamentals
of the computer, the use of the keyboard, how to surf the Internet
and various application of word processing.
Participants are also taught how to use the computer for research
and how to prepare projects using Microsoft word or Microsoft
Publisher.
Each day, between 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., participants utilize
the Computer Lab to enhance and to challenge their academic
skills.
Library
The Library houses all kinds of exciting fiction and non-fiction
books for youth who participate in Toberman’s programs.
In addition, our 4,000 books are enjoyed by volunteers and the
community. We are always looking for volunteer librarians.
